One week ago today was the last day that the poker world was running smoothly.  Players were completely ignorant about what would happen the following day, which would later be known as pokers black Friday.  The traffic was running strong at the big poker rooms such as PokerStars and Full Tilt and the American players at these sites were showing up and helping these sites be what they were, the top online poker rooms in the world.  All that changed last Friday when the FBI forced PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker and UB/Absolute Poker to close their doors to all American residents.  I thought it would be interesting to look at the traffic stats of these top poker rooms a week later to see how drastically their traffic has declined, while also checking some other poker rooms that accept US players to see if the Americans are relocating to other online poker rooms.

I decided to take the average from Monday to Wednesday of each week (before and after) to get an idea of the change in traffic from one week to the next.  I included the “Black Friday” rooms, as well as the top 2 rooms that already did not accept United States players and the top 2 rooms that still do accept US residents.  These traffic stats were found at Poker Scout.

“Black Friday” Poker Rooms Traffic

PokerStars Peak Traffic

April 11th-13th: 46,769
April 18th- 20th: 37,598
Change: -9,171
Percentage:  -19.61%

PokerStars is the biggest poker room online, but luckily for them they have a very strong international presence so although they lose a big chunk of their player base, their percentage decrease in traffic is much less than either Full Tilt’s or UB/Absolute Poker’s.  PokerStars dropped almost 20% from last week, but remains the largest poker room online by far.  In fact after last Friday’s event, PokerStars is now more than double the size of Full Tilt, which actually has really cemented PokerStars as a top destination for players (not including Americans of course).

Full Tilt Poker Peak Traffic

April 13th: 27,714
April 20th: 15,898
Change: -11,816
Percentage: -42.64%

Full Tilt’s traffic was hit hard by the loss of American residents.  Full Tilt actually lost more players in the week than PokerStars did, which indicates that Full Tilt had a very large American player base.  Full Tilt’s traffic stats are down over 40% and they will also be losing many of their sponsored pros, who are also American residents.  This includes many of the high profile faces of the site, such as Phil Ivey and Tom Dwan who will not be able to play while living in the United States.

Cereus (UB/Absolute Poker) Peak Traffic

April 13th: 3,600
April 20th: 1,611
Change:  -1,989
Percentage: -55.25%

The American player ban has likely hit the Cereus poker rooms of Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker the hardest.  These rooms traffic decreased over 50% and they have become just another small room that does not accept United States players.  I don’t expect many new sign ups to occur at UB or Absolute Poker in the near future.

Previous Non-American Room Traffic

I thought it would be interesting to see if other poker rooms that were already not accept American players had more or less traffic following the “Black Friday” events.  Non-American players could be wary of the United States FBI attack on their previous poker site of choice and they may consider moving to a room that is not in trouble with the States.

Party Poker Peak Traffic

April 11th – 13th average: 6,877
April 18th – 20th average: 7,756
Change: +879
Percentage: +12.78%

It seems like some non-American players who have accounts at both Party Poker and one of the “black Friday” rooms may be moving their poker play to Party.  This could be because the rooms that are being indicted have lost the trust of players.  Including ones who have not been directly affected (non-American residents).  It will be interesting to see if Party Poker can gain some ground on PokerStars and Full Tilt in terms of online poker market share following this event.

iPoker Peak Traffic (Titan Poker and more)

April 11th – 13th average: 6731
April 18th – 20th average: 6863
Change: +132
Percentage: +1.96%

The iPoker traffic looks to have remained fairly constant from the previous week.  It seems most non-american players who are wary of playing at PokerStars or Full Tilt have decided to move to Party Poker, but it will be interesting to see if the iPoker traffic ramps up in the next week.  Titan is the most trusted room on the iPoker network.  Download Titan Poker for an alternative to Full Tilt and PokerStars for non United States residents.

Remaining American Rooms Traffic

Merge Poker Peak Traffic (Carbon, Lock, Sportsbook and more)

April 11th – 13th average: 1,401
April 18th – 20th average: 1,985
Change: +584
Percentage: +41.68%

The Merge network saw some big gains from the previous week.  584 players at peak hours may not seem like a lot, but that indicates a 41.68% player base increase for Merge poker rooms.  Merge seems to be one of the few remaining options for US players and those that do not want to give up poker for the time being will likely be setting up accounts at Merge.  I suggest players looking to play at the Merge network sign up through Carbon Poker.  Signing up through this link will earn you 35% rakeback at Carbon Poker, which is the biggest and most respected member of the Merge Poker room network.

Bodog Poker Peak Traffic

April 11th – 13th average: 1,147
April 18th – 20th average: 1,515
Change:+368
Percentage: +32.08%

Bodog is another room that is still accepting United States players and has had a 32% increase in play from the past week.  In my opinion Bodog is the safest place for United States poker players to move their bankrolls to.  Bodog has been in the business for many years and has somehow managed to stay out of trouble with the United States government for this entire time.  Bodog is the biggest company and every player playing at your table is also from Bodog.  It’s nice to only deal with one poker room, rather than knowing players can be coming from a variety of sites, which is the case with the Merge network.  Bodog should see greater increases in traffic in the near future as more players realize they are a top option for not just poker, but also casino and sports betting.

On Friday the FBI seized the domains of PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker, UB and Absolute, the three biggest poker rooms online that currently accept US players.  These companies are being taken to court because they allegedly tricked banks into accepting transactions from fly be the night payment processors in order to allow United States residents to illegally fund their online poker accounts.  It sounds like some serious stuff and who knows how long US residents will be suspended from their online poker accounts at these poker giants.  Each company has stated that player funds are safe, but in the meantime US residents need to find a new online poker room to play at.

There are several options, including the Merge gaming network (Carbon Poker is the biggest room there), Cake Poker, and other small rooms, but the most legitimate online poker room that is currently accepting United States residents has to be Bodog.  Bodog has been in the online sportsbook and casino industry for many years and although the poker room is still relatively new it is one of the best designs in the game and the company is definitely the most trustworthy of all current companies accepting United States players.  Download Bodog Poker by clicking the picture below to check out the software for yourself.

To add to the appeal of Bodog sportsbook players are usually donkeys and Bodog.com is home to a lot of sports bettors who like to try their luck at poker from time to time.  Bodog is swimming with fish and a shark can really earn some solid dough before more sharp players become aware of this.

It sucks that your favourite online poker room is no longer accepting your business.  But Bodog has stated that their doors are still open to United States residents for the foreseeable future.  Thats what happens when you run a legitimate business.

From January 24th to 30th, Full Tilt Poker is doubling every single one of their guaranteed prize pool online poker tournaments.  This a great opportunity for multi-table tournament players to win larger amounts playing in the exact same tournaments as before.  There is also the chance that these double guaranteed prize pool tournaments will result in some large overlays, which provides a great deal of value for players.

What are Overlays?

An overlay in a guaranteed prize pool tournament is the difference between the amount of money guaranteed by the poker room (in this case Full Tilt) and the amount of money contributed to the prize pool through buy-ins.  When tournaments have overlays it basically means every player bought into the tournament for less than the value they are receiving.  Here is an example:

The Sunday Brawl Tournament on Sunday the 30th would normally have a guarnateed prize pool of $400k, but during the double guarantees week the prize pool will be at least $800,000.  The buy-in for this event remains steady at $240 + $16 ($256).  If  2,500 players enter this tournament, the contributed prize pool would be $640,000, leaving a $160K overlay.  This $160K can then be divided by the 2,500 players to find the overlay value to each player.  In this case it’s $64.  So basically each player is receiving an added value of $64 for participating in this tournament.

Register at Full Tilt Poker

In my history running this site, this is one of the best promotions I have seen from Full Tilt Poker, making this the perfect time to download Full Tilt and register a new account.  Use Full Tilt referral code THEFULLTILT when signing up in order to receive a 100% matching bonus up to $600, which will help you enter more of these great double guaranteed tourneys throughout the week.  Even if you don’t want to deposit, it’s always smart to download online poker rooms in order to try them out prior to making your first deposit.

I’m considering taking the week off from my regular job and grinding out as many tournaments as possible at Full Tilt that provide an advantageous overlay.  As long as you are an average, or above average player, this week should be very profitable for you at Full Tilt Poker!

Full Tilt Poker is hosting a Super Turbo weekend from Friday June 11th at 4pm EST until Sunday the 13th at 4pm.  I know the World Cup is starting this same weekend, but if you can find some time after the games have finished for the day I strongly suggest you take advantage of this promotion.  $100,000 in added cash is being awarded over the weekend in the form of steps tournament tickets.  These tickets will be won in the $100K super turbo step freeroll that you can gain entry into by winning super turbo sit and go tournaments over the course of the weekend.

To unlock your ticket to the freeroll you must cash in super turbo sit and go’s.  There are four parts of your ticket that you must unlock and each cash you achieve will unlock either one or two parts of the ticket.  If the super turbo sng had a buy-in of under $5 then you will unlock one piece of the ticket, but if you cashed in a tournament with a buy-in of over $5 you will unlock two pieces of the ticket.

Unlocking this ticket should be extremely easy and not very time consuming, considering the average length of a super turbo sit and go is only about fifteen minutes long.  This promotion is easy to do and there are $100,000 up for grabs in added value if you play a few super turbo tourneys.  I personally love super turbo sng’s so I’ll be playing them regardless, but this is a great opportunity for you to have some fast paced poker fun for positive ROI!

If you don’t yet have an account at Full TIlt you should sign up using a Full Tilt referral code in order to get the best bonus possible at Full Tilt Poker.  See you at the super turbo tables!

Full Tilt Poker’s newest invention, rush poker, has been a huge hit and to celebrate Full Tilt is giving all current players a free $50 bonus as long as you log into Full Tilt Poker and opt in before 11:59pm on March 14th!  This bonus will immediately be added to your pending bonus account, which you can clear by playing games at Full Tilt Poker.  In fact, rush poker is the perfect way to clear the bonus quickly.

What is Rush Poker?

Rush Poker is the new cash game style that Full Tilt created, which allows players to constantly be in a hand.  Rush Poker is the way poker was meant to be played.

Every player at a certain limit is placed into a giant group that is constantly matching players into hands when they are not involved in a hand.  This means that when you fold your hand you will automatically be moved to a new table with new players and begin a new hand.  Whichever player at the new table has gone the longest without placing a blind becomes the new big blind.

The game is great!  If you aren’t a player at Full Tilt yet, you should definitely sign up using Full Tilt Poker referral code THEFULLTILT and try out the game.  If you complete your normal sign up bonus by March 12th you can even get the extra $50 bonus being given to everyone!

Full Tilt Big Thumbs Up

Full Tilt is definitely moving up in the poker world and this new Rush Poker cash game variation combined with the free $50 to show they care for players could be what they need to catch PokerStars in the online poker industry.  Only time will tell.  Until then I’m going to be clearing my free $50 bonus at Full Tilt Poker!

Full Tilt Poker has announced that they will be adding four $250,000 tournaments to their January tournament schedule.  The great thing about these tourneys is that the buy-in is only $5 + $0.50.  The tournaments will take place on the first four Sundays of January at 1:45pm EST each week.  These small risk, huge reward tournaments are great for players with small online poker bankrolls who want to take a stab at instant riches.

There are even satellites into these tournaments for players who only have a couple of bucks left in their Full Tilt accounts.  These satellite tourneys range from 150 FTP’s to $1.50 tournaments.

These tournaments are only $5 + $0.50 so there is no reason not to give yourself the shot at a big score to start off the new year.  For players with rakeback accounts the fee is even less because you will be receiving 27% of that $0.50 back.  These little big tournaments are going to be a ton of fun and they will be some of the largest tournaments ever held online.  Just to account for the guaranteed prize pool, 50,000 players must enter each of these four tournaments.  With that many players there is definitely some big money to be won for the top 1000 or so players!

Sundays are lazy days anyways so if you are bored you might as well try to turn $5 into a small fortune during your afternoon!  Small risk, huge rewards!  That’s what Full Tilt’s little big tournaments are all about.

Full Tilt Poker has recently announced the Aussie Millions poker qualifier schedule as well as the prize package that everyone will be drooling over.  The prize package is worth the equivalent of $14,500 US and includes not only the AUD $10,500 main event entry, but also an 11 nights stay at the Crown Casino in Melbourne, $1200 in travelling expenses, a $50,000 live freeroll and entry to various Full Tilt events including meeting many members of team Full Tilt.

You can try to win your $14.5K prize package every week at Full Tilt Poker until the final tournament on January 9th.  Each qualifier has a buy-in of $500 + $50.  Of course there are a ton of satellites into each of these qualifiers, which means no matter how big your bankroll is you can take a stab at playing in the Aussie Millions.  Every week at least 1 prize package is guaranteed, with 2 being guaranteed every other week.  The final tournament on January 9th will have 5 guaranteed prize packages.

Full Tilt Poker is definitely the best poker room online if you are looking to qualify for the Aussie Millions this year.  If you don’t have a Full Tilt account yet, make sure you sign up for a Full Tilt Poker rakeback account.  This means you would receive 27% rakeback from Full Tilt.  For example, if you have a rakeback account you would receive $13.50 back from the $50 qualifier tournament fee.  This adds up over time.  Get your Full Tilt rakeback account now!

Full Tilt Poker has just recently done a significant software update.  This update has added many new features for all players and has compeltely changed the layout of the Full Tilt Poker lobby.  A new and improved hand replayer has been added and even a new final table deal making option has been implemented.  Now Full Tilt wants all of their players to try out this new software and get the feel for it.  For this reason Full Tilt Poker has announced that they are offering every player who earned a single Full Tilt Point before July 28th a completely free $100 bonus to play at Full Tilt Poker over the next month and try out the new software.

In order to claim your free poker bonus all you have to do is go to “requests” and “check my bonus offer”.  You will then be able to opt in to the $100 bonus promotion.  You have 30 days from the time you accepted the bonus until it expires.  The bonus is released in $10 increments every time you earn 167 Full Tilt Points, so even if you don’t think you’ll be able to clear the entire amount you should still opt into the promotion and earn as much of the bonus as you can.

This is a very lucrative offer being made by Full Tilt Poker and I urge every player to take advantage of it.  If you don’t yet have an account at Full Tilt Poker, I’m sorry, but you do not qualify for this offer.  However, by just signing up at Full Tilt you can claim a 100% up to $600 bonus.  Use Full Tilt Poker referral codeTHEFULLTILT‘ when signing up to receive this bonus!
