Review of Pokersite.org

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

We don’t usually do poker site reviews here at New Poker Promotions, but I thought we could make an exception for this solid poker review site.  Pokersite.org offers visitors reviews of all of the top online poker rooms as well as recommendations of where to play according to your country of residence.  There is also an online poker guide section with many strategy articles, poker videos, poker bonus reviews, and a ton of other great online poker information.

Best Poker Sites Section

This section outlines which rooms are the best poker sites for players looking for certain characteristics.  For example, a Canadian player may best enjoy playing at Full Tilt Poker or PokerStars, while a European player may want to check out Titan Poker or Mansion Poker.  Another page outlines the easiest to beat poker rooms with Aced.com being the highest recommended on this page.  From my experience there are definitely plenty of fish swimming around at Aced.

Poker Site Reviews

Pokersite.org offers 17 unique reviews of the top online poker rooms.  Full Tilt Poker recieved the highest rating of these 17 online poker rooms with Ladbrokes bringing up the rear.  Each of the reviews are very solid with a ton of information portrayed in an easy to read and interesting format.  If you are looking to read some quality reviews I highly recommend checking out Pokersite.org because we only have promotion reviews here.

Poker Guide

Pokersite.org may seem like a just review site, but in reality it is rich in unique content with many strategy, how-to-play and news articles.  You can also find information on all of the major online and live poker tournaments including the Full Tilt FTOPS events and the PokerStars WCOOP.  The poker guide section of Pokersite.org has much more interesting information that I can’t get into right now.  Check it out for yourself by heading over to Pokersite.org right now.

Overall, Pokersite.org is a great resource for players looking to find online poker information.  The layout is great and the content is presented in an interesting manner that will make you want to read what is written on each page of the website.

Full Tilt Poker Aussie Millions Qualifiers

Monday, November 9th, 2009

Full Tilt Poker has recently announced the Aussie Millions poker qualifier schedule as well as the prize package that everyone will be drooling over.  The prize package is worth the equivalent of $14,500 US and includes not only the AUD $10,500 main event entry, but also an 11 nights stay at the Crown Casino in Melbourne, $1200 in travelling expenses, a $50,000 live freeroll and entry to various Full Tilt events including meeting many members of team Full Tilt.

You can try to win your $14.5K prize package every week at Full Tilt Poker until the final tournament on January 9th.  Each qualifier has a buy-in of $500 + $50.  Of course there are a ton of satellites into each of these qualifiers, which means no matter how big your bankroll is you can take a stab at playing in the Aussie Millions.  Every week at least 1 prize package is guaranteed, with 2 being guaranteed every other week.  The final tournament on January 9th will have 5 guaranteed prize packages.

Full Tilt Poker is definitely the best poker room online if you are looking to qualify for the Aussie Millions this year.  If you don’t have a Full Tilt account yet, make sure you sign up for a Full Tilt Poker rakeback account.  This means you would receive 27% rakeback from Full Tilt.  For example, if you have a rakeback account you would receive $13.50 back from the $50 qualifier tournament fee.  This adds up over time.  Get your Full Tilt rakeback account now!

Cool Hand Poker is Targetting Casual Players

Friday, October 9th, 2009

Do you find there to be too many sharks and poker professionals on the main poker websites such as Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars?  Do you just want to play poker casually and occassionally have a winning session?  Are you tired of seeing your bankroll decrease too quickly because you can’t seem to win against all of the poker sharks that infest the waters of the big poker sites?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then Cool Hand Poker may be the poker room for you.

Cool Hand Poker is a new room that is taking a different approach to building a player base.  Cool Hand is telling the poker sharks and professionals to stay away and inviting the less experienced players who play simply for the enjoyment to come and try their luck playing other average players.

You might wonder how Cool Hand Poker can keep the sharks and poker professionals away from their site.  Well the truth is they can’t guarantee that no poker professionals will be playing at their site, however they have done plenty to deter these sharks from bothering with their smaller poker room.

First of all, at Cool Hand Poker you can only play at a maximum of three tables at once.  This alone will keep almost all of the poker professionals away from Cool Hand Poker because many professionals like to increase their hourly rate by playing at several tables at once.  This three table limit shouldn’t matter for casual players because we are just playing for enjoyment, not necessarily for profit (although it would be nice).

Sign Up to Cool Hand Poker Now!

The other way Cool Hand Poker deters professionals from playing at their site is by not offering any form of rakeback.  A big portion of many poker pro’s earnings comes from rakeback.  By playing at Cool Hand Poker the poker pro’s would lose a huge chunk of their monthly income because they wouldn’t receive the 27-40% rakeback that they can receive at other sites.

As you can see, Cool Hand Poker has put up some pretty big barriers to keep the poker sharks and poker professionals away.  This means that casual players can enjoy the game in a more relaxed environment and actually have a shot at some winning online poker sessions.  We all know poker is more fun when you win and by Cool Hand Poker eliminating the sharks, even the casual players can win from time to time.

I highly recommend you download Cool Hand Poker and try out the software.  You will probably find a much friendlier environment and likely a much weaker set of competition.

If you do decide to register an account at Cool Hand Poker, make sure you use Cool Hand Poker bonus code 291 in order to receive your 100% matching bonus up to $350 on your first deposit.

Poker in Europe

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

Online poker is taking over Europe is booming. Those are the words you can these days find from a lot of different places. And online poker truly is taking over Europe. Just as with many other things the online poker first gained popularity in America and when it became a major thing “across the pond” the Europeans started realizing how much fun playing poker online really is. The first countries that got swiped over with the poker pandemic were a bit surprisingly the Scandinavian countries Norway and Sweden. It can be speculated that this was mainly because practically every home in those countries had a fast and reliable internet connection already over ten years ago. It didn’t take a long for the online poker sharks in those countries to become main stream media figures. Poker players such as Erik “Erik123” Sagström and Bengt Sonner aka “pkrbt” were soon featured in major news magazines and TV programs. After Scandinavia the poker boom began taking over the central Europe and soon major European countries such as France and Germany witnessed their own poker boom. Currently the poker boom doesn’t show any signs of slowing down and every year a new European country finds itself in middle of the online poker storm.
Every year the player numbers keeps going up on the European Poker Tour and other on other European poker tournament series such as European Masters of Poker.
This is mainly caused by countless online poker sites focusing more of their marketing efforts on Europe and running satellites to those tournaments. PokerStars has taken it the furthest and is the official partner of the European Poker Tour. You can find satellites to all the European Poker Tour events at PokerStars. Another site where you can find major satellites is LuckyAcePoker.
Besides the online poker sites focusing on the European poker market, several poker news sites have decided to focus on Poker in Europe as well.  Most famous of them is the Euro Poker Pro which offers daily poker news and poker articles that focus mostly on European poker.

Poker Rooms Offering Casino Games

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

It has become very common for online poker rooms to have a casino section where players can take a break from the stresses of online poker and relax with some simple casino games.  The casino games that poker rooms offer include all of the popular casino table game so you can play blackjack, video poker, or even play roulette online.  It can be very nice after a bad beat to just hit up the casino section of the poker room and play until your anger has faded and you are ready to return to the felt.

Carbon Poker is one of the online poker rooms that has a casino section available for players.  Carbon offers blackjack, roulette, caribbean stud poker and video poker to players looking to take a break from the tables.  It is important to note however that the losses from these casino games aren’t recouped even if you are on the 30% Carbon Poker Rakeback plan.  A lot of players believe that the rakeback extends to the casino games and this is just not the case.

Party Poker is another top quality online poker room that offers casino games to players.  Party Poker’s casino is simply called Party Casino and is one of the many areas that Party Poker branched out into, the others being Party Bets and Party Bingo.  If you have never played at the Party Casino before then you should definitely use a PartyCasino.net Bonus Code in order to make sure you receive the sign up bonus from Party.

Overall I think it’s great that poker rooms are offering casino games to players.  There is no downside to incorporating them into the poker room.  If you don’t want to play them you don’t have to, but if you do get the urge they are there for your enjoyment.  Casino games are obviously not a great use of your money because of the house edge, but if they keep you from tilting your money away at the poker tables then maybe they do have their uses.

Using PayPal to Gamble Online

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

PayPal is one of the most popular e-wallets available for use online and is the preferred choice because of its reputation, security and ease of transactions.  The one problem with PayPal has been their anti-gambling stance which has made it very difficult for online poker, casino or bingo rooms to accept PayPal payments even though the majority of online gamblers do have a PayPal account.  Well this problem has recently changed with many online poker rooms, casino rooms and bingo rooms allowing PayPal deposits for specific countries.

Some of the emerging PayPal poker rooms include Pacific Poker, Betfair Poker, Paddy Power Poker, Ladbrokes Poker, William Hill Poker and Party Poker.   Even though these poker rooms are allowing PayPal deposits they are only from a select few countries in Europe.

Some of the PayPal casino rooms include William Hill Casino, 888 Casino, Paddy Power Casino and Betfair Casino.  A lot of these casino’s also own PayPal bingo rooms that include Ladbrokes Bingo, William Hill Bingo, Paddy Power Bingo and Tombola Bingo.

At most of the sites mentioned above the minimum PayPal deposit is around €10 and the fact that these sites are now accepting PayPal will surely set them apart from the competition.  PayPal is such an easy to use online payment method and it is nice to see the gambling industry starting to incorporate PayPal into their plans.  Hopefully in the future more online gambling sites will start to accept PayPal and a larger list of countries will be on the accepted list.

Using Online Poker Promotions to your Advantage

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

Poker promotions are a great way to continue to build your bankroll after you have exhausted the initial deposit bonuses for the majority of the reputable online poker rooms.

After you have used all the additional money the poker rooms gave you to try out their rooms, you have to look for other ways to gain an edge.  These can include rakeback, freerolls (such as the country freerolls at Full Tilt), overlay tournaments AND online poker room promotions.  Many promotions offered by poker rooms give money and prizes back to the players.

For example, the Doyle’s Room bounty promotion gives players a free entry into their first bounty tournament, which is a value of $27.50.  On top of this players can earn extra bounty money from knocking out Doyle or his friends.  This all turns into additional cash being added to the tournament.

Another example would be Carbon Poker’s monthly rake race promotions, which are always the exact same with different themes, which kind of annoys me, but they are still giving cash back to the player.  Or even Full Tilt’s happy hour.  Full Tilt Points are basically cash because they can buy you into tournaments or purchase you Full Tilt merchandise.

Poker series’ held by rooms almost always have extra prizes or a winners freeroll that gives back to the players.  For example the Cake Poker Reindeer Games promotion has added prizes for every tournament, such as 5 seats added to the $250K guaranteed, $5000 added to the prize pool, etc, not to mention the $20K Reindeer Games finals which the top 9 finishers from each event earn entry to.

As you can see poker promotions are a great way to build your bankroll, because you can actually be at an advantage to the house.  Any time a poker room offers a promotion such as a money added tournament, a rebate or special bounties, you should try to take advantage of these offers, rather than just play regular tournaments where the poker room earns 10% of your buy-in.

A smart strategy would be to look at our bonuses page.  Try to clear all these bonuses while building your bankroll, which will give you a lot of additional poker funds.  Start by playing at the poker rooms that give you the best poker bonus and work your way down through the remaining poker rooms bonuses.  Then come back and stay on the look out for new poker promotions that are coming up, that put the advantage back in your hands.  It’s all about continuing to build your bankroll by gaining an edge any way you can!!
