Titan Turbo promotionTitan Poker has announced their Titan Turbo rake race that will run for the month of February.  There is $8,000 up for grabs, $2000 of which will be available every week in an individual 4-day rake race.  This is for cash game players and the promo runs every week of February from Wednesday to Sunday.  It’s also important to note that you must Opt In to participate in this Titan Poker promotion.

How It Works

Every week there is $2,000 up for grabs.  There is $1,500 up for grabs for the rake race between players playing at the $1/$2 tables and up, while the other $500 is ready to be split amongst the top players from the $0.05/$0.10 to $0.50/$1 tables!  The top 20 players in each grouping will be rewarded with cash!

Here is the payout structure for each group:

  • 1st place – 25%
  • 2nd place – 17%
  • 3rd place – 10%
  • 4th to 20th – the remainder split up with the higher positions getting more cash.  To see the full payout table visit Titan Poker.

It is also important to note that heads up cash games do not count for this promotion. You must also play at least 200 raked hands in order to be eligible to win. The most profitable players will win the money. So this is not a promotion to see who can play the most this month, but instead to see who can win the most! The Leaderboard will be updated every day so you can see how far you are behind the front runners.

If you haven’t signed up with Titan Poker before this is the perfect opportunity because while you are winning cash from the Titan Turbo rake race you can also be clearing your Titan Poker bonus!  Titan currently offers a 200% matching bonus up to $2000, which is one of the biggest bonuses offered in the business.  While playing the cash games you will also be earning points that will be put towards clearing your Titan bonus.  So even if you don’t have a profitable week you will still get some free cash from the Titan Poker bonus!

Titan Poker does not currently accept United States residents, but the iPoker network, which Titan Poker is a part has some great UK poker sites, including Titan Poker.  Players from the UK particularly like Titan Poker because there is the option to deposit in GBP or EUR with the funds automatically corrected to US dollars.

If you do decide to sign up at Titan Poker, I suggest you check out some UK Poker bonus codes 2012 to see some up to date bonus codes that will guarantee that you receive the bonus you want from Titan Poker.

This Titan Turbo rake race is great because you only have to profit over 4 days and then the cash is added to your Titan Poker account.  I suggest all solid cash game players try to put together a good streak to add some extra cash to the profits they already would have earned.

Backbet Promotion

The iPoker network has introduced a new “backbets” feature, which allows players to bet on poker hands while they play at iPoker tables.  The “backbets” add a little bit of extra excitement during your time at the poker table, but in reality they are included for the poker room to try to make a little bit more money off of bored players who are ready to gamble.

How It Works

The “backbets” are in-game side bets that allow players to wager on different things that could happen during the hand or in the next hand.  One example involves betting on your next hole cards (wager on if they will be pocket pairs, if they will be the same suit, if you will hit blackjack, and over/unders on card amounts, etc.  There are a ton of options to bet on your next hole cards).  Another option is betting the board cards.  You can wager on what cards will come up on the flop, turn or river (wagers such as the suits, over/unders on the card total, a specific card, etc).    Finally you can also bet your folded cards.  You can fold your hand at any point in the hand and still bet on whether you would have hit a pair, a flush, a straight or any other wild hand you can think of.  The options really are endless with the “backbets” feature on the iPoker network.

How To Use Backbet

The odds in backbet will obviously favour the house so it is not a good idea to use backbet often if you are concerned with your online poker bankroll.  That being said, there is a use for backbet if you are interested in hedging your Backbet Promotiononline poker cash game play.  There will be certain times when you are able to hedge your bets playing online poker to ensure that you do win a certain amount from a hand.  For example, if you are heads up to the river and you know that any card but an ace will likely win you the pot, you can hedge some money that an ace will show up on the turn.  This will allow you to make sure that you win money whether or not that ace shows up.  The amount you win will still likely be less over the long run than if you never hedge, but hedging using backbet is a good way to ensure that you don’t go broke at the cash game table.

What Sites Offer Backbet

As mentioned earlier any site on the iPoker network now offers “backbet”.  Our favourite site would be SportsInteraction, which is primarily a sports betting website, but also offers players a reputable poker room.  The most popular iPoker network site would have to be Titan Poker though.  Visit Titan Poker now to see what this “backbet” feature is all about.

One week ago today was the last day that the poker world was running smoothly.  Players were completely ignorant about what would happen the following day, which would later be known as pokers black Friday.  The traffic was running strong at the big poker rooms such as PokerStars and Full Tilt and the American players at these sites were showing up and helping these sites be what they were, the top online poker rooms in the world.  All that changed last Friday when the FBI forced PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker and UB/Absolute Poker to close their doors to all American residents.  I thought it would be interesting to look at the traffic stats of these top poker rooms a week later to see how drastically their traffic has declined, while also checking some other poker rooms that accept US players to see if the Americans are relocating to other online poker rooms.

I decided to take the average from Monday to Wednesday of each week (before and after) to get an idea of the change in traffic from one week to the next.  I included the “Black Friday” rooms, as well as the top 2 rooms that already did not accept United States players and the top 2 rooms that still do accept US residents.  These traffic stats were found at Poker Scout.

“Black Friday” Poker Rooms Traffic

PokerStars Peak Traffic

April 11th-13th: 46,769
April 18th- 20th: 37,598
Change: -9,171
Percentage:  -19.61%

PokerStars is the biggest poker room online, but luckily for them they have a very strong international presence so although they lose a big chunk of their player base, their percentage decrease in traffic is much less than either Full Tilt’s or UB/Absolute Poker’s.  PokerStars dropped almost 20% from last week, but remains the largest poker room online by far.  In fact after last Friday’s event, PokerStars is now more than double the size of Full Tilt, which actually has really cemented PokerStars as a top destination for players (not including Americans of course).

Full Tilt Poker Peak Traffic

April 13th: 27,714
April 20th: 15,898
Change: -11,816
Percentage: -42.64%

Full Tilt’s traffic was hit hard by the loss of American residents.  Full Tilt actually lost more players in the week than PokerStars did, which indicates that Full Tilt had a very large American player base.  Full Tilt’s traffic stats are down over 40% and they will also be losing many of their sponsored pros, who are also American residents.  This includes many of the high profile faces of the site, such as Phil Ivey and Tom Dwan who will not be able to play while living in the United States.

Cereus (UB/Absolute Poker) Peak Traffic

April 13th: 3,600
April 20th: 1,611
Change:  -1,989
Percentage: -55.25%

The American player ban has likely hit the Cereus poker rooms of Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker the hardest.  These rooms traffic decreased over 50% and they have become just another small room that does not accept United States players.  I don’t expect many new sign ups to occur at UB or Absolute Poker in the near future.

Previous Non-American Room Traffic

I thought it would be interesting to see if other poker rooms that were already not accept American players had more or less traffic following the “Black Friday” events.  Non-American players could be wary of the United States FBI attack on their previous poker site of choice and they may consider moving to a room that is not in trouble with the States.

Party Poker Peak Traffic

April 11th – 13th average: 6,877
April 18th – 20th average: 7,756
Change: +879
Percentage: +12.78%

It seems like some non-American players who have accounts at both Party Poker and one of the “black Friday” rooms may be moving their poker play to Party.  This could be because the rooms that are being indicted have lost the trust of players.  Including ones who have not been directly affected (non-American residents).  It will be interesting to see if Party Poker can gain some ground on PokerStars and Full Tilt in terms of online poker market share following this event.

iPoker Peak Traffic (Titan Poker and more)

April 11th – 13th average: 6731
April 18th – 20th average: 6863
Change: +132
Percentage: +1.96%

The iPoker traffic looks to have remained fairly constant from the previous week.  It seems most non-american players who are wary of playing at PokerStars or Full Tilt have decided to move to Party Poker, but it will be interesting to see if the iPoker traffic ramps up in the next week.  Titan is the most trusted room on the iPoker network.  Download Titan Poker for an alternative to Full Tilt and PokerStars for non United States residents.

Remaining American Rooms Traffic

Merge Poker Peak Traffic (Carbon, Lock, Sportsbook and more)

April 11th – 13th average: 1,401
April 18th – 20th average: 1,985
Change: +584
Percentage: +41.68%

The Merge network saw some big gains from the previous week.  584 players at peak hours may not seem like a lot, but that indicates a 41.68% player base increase for Merge poker rooms.  Merge seems to be one of the few remaining options for US players and those that do not want to give up poker for the time being will likely be setting up accounts at Merge.  I suggest players looking to play at the Merge network sign up through Carbon Poker.  Signing up through this link will earn you 35% rakeback at Carbon Poker, which is the biggest and most respected member of the Merge Poker room network.

Get Carbon Poker 35% Rakeback

Bodog Poker Peak Traffic

April 11th – 13th average: 1,147
April 18th – 20th average: 1,515
Change:+368
Percentage: +32.08%

Bodog is another room that is still accepting United States players and has had a 32% increase in play from the past week.  In my opinion Bodog is the safest place for United States poker players to move their bankrolls to.  Bodog has been in the business for many years and has somehow managed to stay out of trouble with the United States government for this entire time.  Bodog is the biggest company and every player playing at your table is also from Bodog.  It’s nice to only deal with one poker room, rather than knowing players can be coming from a variety of sites, which is the case with the Merge network.  Bodog should see greater increases in traffic in the near future as more players realize they are a top option for not just poker, but also casino and sports betting.

You may have noticed online casino extensions popping up at some of your favourite online poker rooms.  This is not likely to stop anytime soon because not only do the online casinos provide players with a lot more options if they get tired of playing poker for a bit and just want to try some straight up gambles, but these online casino extensions often make a good deal of money for the poker room.  Online casinos, in general, make more money per player than online poker rooms and this money can come pouring in very fast.  As long as the poker rooms have the cash flow to cover big losses you can expect to see casinos at almost all online poker rooms very soon.  Here are a couple examples of poker rooms that recently opened casinos and some are already competing with the best online casinos out there.

PKR Casino

PKR launched PKR Casino over a year ago and they’ve stayed true to their competitive advantage within the marketplace by offering unique 3D games with some of the best software and graphics in the industry.  PKR has all the games you could want at an online casino and even some of the more rare varieties including Red Dog Poker and Casino War.  At the PKR Casino you use your PKR.com account so there is no need to transfer funds and you can get the casino experience without having to trust another online company with your information and deposited funds.  Expect the PKR Casino to gain a further following in the next few years because they truly do offer a great product.

Titan Casino

Titan Casino (titancasino.com) is another new and flashy online casino that is the child of a successful and respected online poker room.  Titan recently launched TitanBets.com as well so it looks like they are expanding to all the areas of online gambling.  I can’t say I blame them because there is money to be made and it provides their players with everything they could want all in one easy location.  Actually, PKR has launched a betting service as well, so when a company decides to extend to casinos the sports betting is often not far behind.  Titan Casino is great for all players (except for Americans) check it out if you have the chance.

Online Casino extensions of poker rooms will soon be the norm.  Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars have yet to include these with their sites, but have instead continued to focus on being the two largest poker rooms online.  It will be interesting to see if they add casino or sports betting to their businesses in the future.

Speaking of MiniFTOPS, from September 9th to 20th Full Tilt will be running the exact same 25 events, but the buy-ins will be 1/10th the size.  This will give players with smaller bankrolls a chance to win the coveted Silver MiniFTOPS jerseys.  MiniFTOPS XIII guarantees $3 Million in cash prizes and is sure to draw some big fields of lower buy-in players.

Overall, both FTOPS XIII and MiniFTOPS XIII will be fun events for all players involved.  If you haven’t signed up to Full Tilt Poker yet, this would be the perfect time.  Use Full Tilt Poker referral codeTHEFULLTILT” when signing up in order to receive a Full Tilt Poker bonus of up to $600.

Online poker is taking over Europe is booming. Those are the words you can these days find from a lot of different places. And online poker truly is taking over Europe. Just as with many other things the online poker first gained popularity in America and when it became a major thing “across the pond” the Europeans started realizing how much fun playing poker online really is. The first countries that got swiped over with the poker pandemic were a bit surprisingly the Scandinavian countries Norway and Sweden. It can be speculated that this was mainly because practically every home in those countries had a fast and reliable internet connection already over ten years ago. It didn’t take a long for the online poker sharks in those countries to become main stream media figures. Poker players such as Erik “Erik123” Sagström and Bengt Sonner aka “pkrbt” were soon featured in major news magazines and TV programs. After Scandinavia the poker boom began taking over the central Europe and soon major European countries such as France and Germany witnessed their own poker boom. Currently the poker boom doesn’t show any signs of slowing down and every year a new European country finds itself in middle of the online poker storm.
Every year the player numbers keeps going up on the European Poker Tour and other on other European poker tournament series such as European Masters of Poker.
This is mainly caused by countless online poker sites focusing more of their marketing efforts on Europe and running satellites to those tournaments. PokerStars has taken it the furthest and is the official partner of the European Poker Tour. You can find satellites to all the European Poker Tour events at PokerStars. Another site where you can find major satellites is LuckyAcePoker.
Besides the online poker sites focusing on the European poker market, several poker news sites have decided to focus on Poker in Europe as well.  Most famous of them is the Euro Poker Pro which offers daily poker news and poker articles that focus mostly on European poker.
